Sam Fender has given the complete sum of his £25k award cash to the trust for venues, which functions to save the United Kingdom's independent live music spots.

The star was awarded the award on October 16 as his third album the album was declared the top album of the previous year.

The musician has chosen to donate the funds to the trust, in appreciation of the essential function local spots had in his beginning days.

"I personally couldn't be pursuing my current career if it weren't for all the performances I did around the North East, and elsewhere, when I was just getting going," stated Fender. "These spaces are iconic, but they are in difficulty."

From early 2023 onward, at least 150 of these venues have permanently closed – about one-sixth of the entire UK sector.

Over the past year, well-known musicians such as Pulp, the group Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Sheeran have all backed the Music Venues Trust in its attempts to help venues survive, by adding a small levy to their ticket prices, which benefits independent venues.

He also took part, collecting in excess of £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to support numerous grassroots venues across the UK.

The donation helped venues that were dealing with possible closure due to difficulties stemming from floods, fires and bereavements, as well as licensing issues, conflicts and neighbor objections.

Other venues were granted funding support in improving facilities and technical equipment that helped artists and audiences.

"The idea that revenue from concerts in big venues helps the independent spots, where it kicks off for performers like me, is just logical," Fender has stated.

He is among several artists to donate his honor funds to worthy causes.

In they won the trophy in the year 1996 for their record the album, frontman the singer announced that the group would contribute their cash to the charity the charity.

That year, rapper and singer Ms Dynamite shared her bounty between multiple charities, such as the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell organization.

"And I gave a thousand pounds to my local community centre, to their gymnastics class, because I did gymnastics when I was a child and they needed new equipment," the artist explained to a publication.

Two years ago, the band gave their winnings to the local youth club that nurtured their group, as well as other grassroots music organisations.

And the 1994 recipients the group donated their award to a multiple sclerosis charity after a close contact was found to have the disease.

"The victory was sufficient," said artist Small. "The money was the cherry on top but we could do without the extra, because we had the cake. So our victory impacted the lives of others."

Last week, the MVT revealed it had rescued a couple of small stages in south-east England, by bringing them into local control.

The Joiners in the city and the other in that location were acquired under the community ownership program, which is supported by Arts Council England and supporters who acquire "ownership units" in the buildings.
